Motorhead Live At Festival Hall
It had been a rollercoaster week and at one point I thought I might miss Motorhead. Thankfully at the last minute a mate stepped in ensuring I would be able to go.
Festival Hall has become my least favourite venue, and my opinion didn't improve as it was quite the mission just to pick up the tickets. After what seemed an eternity I got inside to find a decent crowd, much better than I expected. Due to the size of the audience it was difficult to talk to people but I received plenty of thumbs up from the usual suspects.
Soon enough Lemmy proclaimed "We Are Motorhead...And We Play Rock N Roll" as Motorhead kicked off with Iron Fist. This was a tremendous live show, which is no surprise. Motorhead show no sign of slowing down.
Even though recent album The World Is Yours didn't grab me the songs from it Get Back In Line and I Know How to Die were awesome live. I might have to change my mind about that CD. Keeping with the latter releases I thought Rock Out was a welcome addition to the set.
With a career like Motorhead's it's impossible to fit in everything so I was pleased to hear songs I love like Over The Top, I Got Mine and In The Name of Tragedy. The best though was The Chase is Better Than The Catch, which has always been a favourite.
The ending of Killed By Death, Ace of Spades and Overkill was a touch predictable and while I would have liked Bomber and Sacrifice I couldn't argue with the set.
After the show I caught up with a number of people, who all said it was magnificent. This was the third time I'd seen Motorhead and this was definitely the best of the 3. I thought Iron Maiden would be the best band I'd see this year but Motorhead will come close.
